Empowering Women to Pursue Financial Freedom on She Means Business

Pachira Wealth Management

Gretchen Meyer, MBA, CFP®, founder of Pachira Wealth Management, appeared on She Means Business on 99.5 The River to discuss Pachira’s origins, her passion for empowering women to pursue financial freedom, and key financial advice from her journey.

The Story Behind the Name

For Gretchen, the name Pachira Wealth Management is more than a rebrand. It is a declaration of purpose. Pachira aquatica, commonly known as the money tree, became the firm’s namesake because of what it represents: the aspiration to live in abundance and build a life of prosperity and success.

“It represents what it means to me to be a client of ours,” Gretchen said, “which is the aspiration of being successful and living in abundance.”

The firm serves a predominantly female clientele, including women business owners, women in major life transitions, executive women, and women who are the primary breadwinners for their families. Pachira’s work centers on helping these women pursue financial freedom with clarity and confidence.

A Personal Path to Purpose

Gretchen’s path to financial planning was shaped by her own experience. In her twenties, she found herself navigating a divorce that left her with $40,000 in credit card debt she had not anticipated. Growing up in a household that had gone through bankruptcy, Gretchen had long carried a scarcity mindset around money. The divorce was a turning point.

“I resolved to never rely on anyone else again,” she said. “So, I dug myself out of debt and pursued two master’s degrees to learn about business and finance and investing.”

After earning her MBA from Columbia University, Gretchen went into consulting before a recruiter introduced her to the world of financial consulting. She was immediately drawn to the idea of educating the public and partnering with clients to work towards their life goals. And because she had lived the experience of financial uncertainty firsthand, she knew exactly who she wanted to serve.

“I decided to help women because I had gone through this transformation myself,” Gretchen shared. “If I can do it, I can inspire other people to do it.”

Building a Community, Not Just a Client List

At Pachira, financial planning goes beyond spreadsheets and investment strategies. Gretchen described the firm’s approach as community-centered, creating spaces where like-minded women can connect, share, and grow together on the path toward financial independence. The firm hosts events throughout the year, including an annual summer white party, that reflect this commitment to building meaningful relationships alongside meaningful financial plans.

The firm’s two core service offerings, financial planning and investment management, are designed to work together to support clients at every stage of their financial lives.

Advice Worth Remembering

When asked what she would tell her younger self, Gretchen’s answer was direct: start saving, no matter how small the amount, and take ownership of your own financial wellness.

“Just little tiny bits of savings can really go a long way,” she said. “Don’t rely on anybody else for your financial stability.”

It is a message that sits at the heart of everything Pachira Wealth Management does: empowering women to take confident, informed steps toward a financially free future.
